"Identity Preservation and
'Due Care' in the Coming Age of Traceability"
Thomas will give an overview of how compliance with identity
preservation standards translate into liability protection
when "trace-back" occurs for particular genetic
events, and discuss case studies in which companies got
it right (or failed to follow good practices and incurred
liability).
Thomas P. Redick is an environmental attorney with Gallop,
Johnson & Neuman, L.C. in St. Louis, Missouri. He
has published and lectured frequently on liability and
regulation of agricultural environmental impacts. From
2000-2002, he chaired the Agricultural Management Committee
for the American Bar Association’s Section on Environment,
Energy and Resources (“ABA SEER”) and is Vice-Chair
for that Section’s Environmental Litigation and
Toxic Torts Committee. He is the founding chair of the
International Biotechnology Regulation Roundtable hosted
by ABA SEER, Croplife America and the Council for Agricultural

Mr. Redick graduated with high honors from the University
of Michigan in 1982 (B.A.) and earned his J.D. there in
1985. He is admitted to practice before the Supreme Courts
of Missouri, California, the High Court of American Samoa,
and various U.S. District and Circuit Courts.
